Yeah For Me

Well it's official! Counting the day too...

Caribbean Lodging Reviews

We were not sure if we were going to be able to go. We had paid off most of it with taxes and money being so tight we had to decide between paying mortgage late and cruising or canceling the cruise. Yeah, you guessed it. We have our entire lives to pay on mortgage. Chances are we won't cruise again until a child graduates from dental school. And given that none of my children have a propensity towards dentistry....this is our shot man!

Nothing really new to blog about. Spending most of August preppng for homeschool, soccer (YES I'm a soccer mom, I am sure I have lost some bet somehwere over this), Girl Scouts (I am a new leader this year), Boy Scouts (just a helper here), tutoring for our homeschool group (very involving), and planning for a baby shower. That would be the baby shower for my new nephew! Can I get a woot woot! (Well, if your in the library don't woot, they kind of frown on that)

Low Points: Really trying to find a good music mixer. I like to mix my own aerobics music. Not finding what I want.

High Points: A trip to both Emerald Pointe and Carowinds are around the corner for us! Dell is paying for Carowinds and Emerald Point is super cheap because it's homeschool day!

Let the Good Times Roll

Just another incredible few weeks, if I might say so. Well, it's my blog and I say so. Oh where to start.

Fourth of July was yet another Kernersville classic. In the morning there is always a parade. This year our church did a float and let all the kids ride on it. OK the definition of float for K-Vegas would be Pastor Pete's truck with a trailer hitched to the back. We did have a couple of people from the Family Life Center dress up as Superman and Batman...so I guess that's a theme eh. Well most of the "floats" in the parade are actually advertising something. So parade can go into paranthesis too. But since everyone is throwing out candy...it's a parade. That night it wasn't supposed to rain. It did. It ended up hailing and blowing down trees and some even believe a "wind thang" came down. But after the monsoon cleared (yes we stayed) the fireworks were really cool. We would have a K-ville firework followed by a God firework...and sometimes together. It created a show unlike any I have seen. Spectacular!

The following Saturday we were treated to a tubing trip down he Dan River. I had never been. My only request was to be upstream. (Think about it. Three hours in a river with no bathrooms, you do the math) It was a blast. It turned out though the only person I had to worry about was my son. He was very proud of his bodily functions that day. He giggled as he announced that, "I pooted". The bubbles entertained him even more. And to once again proove that little men have no shame, he created a "fountain" of pee that he was really proud of. I was downstream. Ugh. But what beautiful scenery. I mean what beautiful scenery!! It had been a while since I had just stopped for a little bit and "smelled the roses". It was so relaxing and amazing. A highly recommended trip.

This past weekend I went on the Family Life Center's annual, trek to Atlanta for Atlanta Mania. Three things I learned about Atlanta 1)every street has the name Peach in it somewhere, 2)the cabbies are obnoxious as hades (they would pull up to a curb and just honk, as if you couldn't see the yellow), and 3) the people are as nice as can be (we stopped in downtown to have our picture taken...and the people walking just stopped! Amazing). The conference was incredible. Picked up my favorite new phrase, "It's okay to have some junk in the trunk".....and I do. I met some trainers this year that were great. My favorite...Beto. Beto introduced us to Zumba...... and Beto. What a class! I have never Zumba'd before and it was an experience. I can't wait to Zumba again. By day two I couldn't feel my lower body, due to the number of step classes I had taken. And by Sunday I couldn't feel anything from the neck down. Hence the reason it took me so long to blog. Today is the first day I used a regular bathroom without the bars to pull me up. Yeah me!

High Point: Talked with Grandma. Made some peace there. Also found out Dell is paying for us to go to Carowinds for a day....Yeah baby (said in my best Austin Powers voice)

Low Point: Mr. Wonderful's extra jobs have dried up for a few weeks. Makes $$ tight.

Bible Bowling

So this last week my daughter and I went to Lousville, Kentucky for National Bible Bowl Competition. The boys stayed home and participated in X-Box camp. We all had a blast.

We traveled with my daughters best friend and her mother. First off, her mother has a Mercedes Wagon. I drive an Escort. Shall I count the differences? I felt spoiled. On the trip up, I had a couple firsts. After having passed through West Virginia (Mr. Wonderful's family hails from here) many times, I have never experienced Tamarack. If this is the best of West Virginia.......ummmmm OK. I'm sorry, if this is the best of "wild, wonderful" West Virginia .......um, OK. It was at Tamarack that I learned how to correctedly pronounce Louisville. That's no "s", and more of a vulle sound. On the way there is where I kept getting tickled at all the signs with "KY" in them. Special shout out to Emily, I might not have ever noticed this little jewel without her noticing it first.

Once in Lousville, I was spoiled once again by the hotel and room. We stayed at the Galt Hotel. If you take the video tour of an East Tower Apartment, this is where we slept!! No joke this "room" was bigger than my house. Most of our quizzing was done in the morning, and that left plenty of time for the pool in the afternoon. The team placed around the middle..but with the competition there, we were proud.

I came back to a clean house, so we'll call this week a success.

Low Point: I can't really think of one.

High Point: I love getting to visit new places.

Status Quo

Well I think that's how you spell quo. Not looking it up today. I am on vacation. Well, kind of. I am not working at the pool this week and spending some time on my house, with my kids, and with my Mr. Wonderful.

Last week was VBS at our church. It was cool because I got to be a "side" singer on the stage and help lead songs. I felt like a Supreme. Watch out Diana Ross. It was also exhausting. I don't think the kids made it to bed before 10pm. We're old. That's late.

The dog is still with us and I find myself asking how I ever lived without him. He has the cutest little face that gets him out of every trouble there is. He reminds me of that dog....in that movie. Well, that narrows it down. Oh what was the name of that movie??????? Ah Winn-Dixie Doggy or something like that. Yes cute dog. Thinking he has some terrier in him. Which causes me to sing that silly terrier song from yet another dog movie, Best In Show.

On a happy note, Mr. Wonderful gets to live. He has found his wedding ring. But he is still in the dog house for comments related to the tatoo discussion we had.

Me: "I think we should get tatoos around our ring finger. Since you have to take your ring off for a lot of things...it would be cool"

Mr. W: "I'll think about it. It just seems so permanent."

Me (mildly aggitated): "Um, and marriage isn't? It's been like 10 years. No one is going anywhere."

Mr. W (Not getting at all my mild aggitation): "What if one of us dies....then we're left with this tat on our ring finger."

Me: (Thinking to myself) Why don't I just kill you right now and save us the time. No....then I'd have to clean up the mess.

Life goes on.

Low Point: My house really does need me to take a week off. During VBS, some things really got let go.

High Point: Aforementioned self appointed vacation (and yes housecleaning is cool to me, I like a clean house:) Also, that Mr. Wonderful did indeed find his wedding band, ain't nothing like the real thing. And I am finally getting caught up on the 20 gazillion (yes its a real number)movies in my netflix queue.
